If you need a New account

• 1. Be sure to select Linux, SSD (is faster than normal HD), FULLY MANAGED Centos (for tech support included).

 

• 1. Pay per gig, select a backup plan, and hostname will be host.companyname.com (whatever your company’s domain is).

• 1. Add a New IP, then click next.
  2. Put in your real info (they may call you to verify) and proceed to purchase.

 

 

 

Configuring wordpress for Speed/CDN

All wordpress sites need to be setup with below (except for DAP membership sites)

• • W3 Total Cache plugin configured with Amazon Cloudfront (AWS services but not s3, they are different).

• • Install w3 total cache https://wordpress.org/plugins/w3-total-cache/

 

• • Go to your amazon aws account https://console.aws.amazon.com/iam/home?#security_credential

• 1. Copy your Amazon AWS security credentials into your logins page in your company onenote (treat this as a username/pass = access key id/secret access key)

 

 

• 1. In the wordpess back end click “Performance>General Settings> CDN”

• 1. Check off “Enable” and select “Origin Pull> Amazon Cloudfront”, then click save

 

• 1. In the wordpress back end Click “Performance” on left panel then “CDN” (this is a different CDN link).

• 1. On the CDN page, keep the default checkboxes at the top and scroll down the “Configuration” sectionA) Paste in your Access key id/Secret key from your Amazon aws account (saved earlier into your onenote).B) Click “Create Distribution”C) Click SAVE (do not forget this step!)This kicks off the cloudfront distribution creation process on the server. It will take a few minutes, in the meantime you can proceed with the next steps.

 

• 1. After a few minutes go back to the CDN page by clicking CDN on the left and click the “Test cloudfront distribution”

• 1. Click Performance>General Settings

 

• 1. Scroll down to the CDN section and check off the “Enable” box and click “Save all settings” button

 

• 1. As a final test, open a new private window in firefox and preview your site to make sure the CDN/W3 total cache did not mess up your site. It must be a private window as W3 total cache does not serve up files from the CDN for users logged into wordpress. Look closely at the URLs to make sure the majority do not come from you domain and instead from from an cloudfront.net domain.
